Background

The site that you find today at EdinburghGuide.com was originally launched on a different domain back in January 1998 by journalists, designers and web technicians based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The site was growing so popular that we decided to move the site to the EdinburghGuide.com domain on 9th August 1999.

EdinburghGuide.com is owned and run by Alstead Consulting Ltd., which is based in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh accommodation section

One of the most common inquiries on EdinburghGuide.com is for accommodation. Hence, we launched an Edinburgh accommodation listings service. For a set annual fee, accommodation owners add a detailed listing for their property, with full contact information, map link, photograph, and details about the accommodation's location, rooms, and facilities. Although many accommodation providers include a booking service on their own web sites, EdinburghGuide.com is simply offering a listings service, where the accommodation provider can update the information about their property, add or remove it from the live listings, as often as they like in the course of the year at no extra cost.

Edinburgh directory

Web sites included in EdinburghGuide.com's directory (apart from accommodation) do not pay a fee for being included in the directory, but are selectively chosen (by humans as opposed to search engines) based on their merits and relevance to the Scottish capital. The web is always morphing and sites change, so if we are unable to include your site initially we are open to reviewing that decision at a later stage. By the same token, sites are regularly reviewed and links may be removed from the directory.
