Take a closer look at the Palace of Holyroodhouse this summer

The Palace at Work 19 - 21 & 26 - 28 July, 11:00 - 15:00

Using pictures and objects from a special activity bag, explore the rooms used for royal engagements, see where The Queen greets her guests and learn about the many ceremonies that take place at the Palace. Visit the new Order of the Thistle display and then design your own badge and add your favourite motto.

The art-based activities are suitable for children between 5 and 11 years of age and are run on a drop-in basis. Standard admission prices apply. A family ticket (2 adults, 3 under 17s) costs £24.50. Tickets purchased directly from the Royal Collection entitle you to register for a year's unlimited admission.

Garden Tours 2 & 3, 9 & 10 August, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00

Join a guided family tour through the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse and uncover their fascinating history. Learn about the lion that once lived in the 900-year-old Abbey and find out about a very special royal party attended by 8,000 people.
