EIFF Blog: Why No Press Screening For Terry?

EIFF 2008: Terence Davies

I’m looking forward to seeing Of Time and the City this Thursday by director Terence Davies who should by now be regarded as a national treasure just for making the sublime Distant Voices, Still Lives. He should have had money thrown at him to make whatever he wants on a regular basis, but of course it's not happened.

Here he presents a documentary about his childhood in Liverpool and a portrait of that city. I’m rather mystified as to why there appears to be no press screening for it so I’ll just have to barge my way in somehow.

Even so, despite these approaching masterpieces and like holding the extra cheese on a pizza I can put the arthouse classic on hold for the moment for as I said before I’m mainly looking forward to seeing Sean Connery parachute in through the glass ceiling of tonight’s opening party where I, your intrepid blogger, will be having fun so that you don’t have to. Catch you later.
