Scotland's biggest bike ride takes place this Sunday, 14th September 2008. Edinburgh riders can get the bus from Craighall Road adjacent to the western side of Victoria Park in the early morning through to Glasgow (book ahead). The ride itself starts by the Winter Gardens at Glasgow Green between 8am and 10am and ends at Victoria Park, Edinburgh (feeding station open til 7pm).

Glasgow City Council has paid tribute to Chris Hoy's Olympic success by announcing that the new National Velodrome being built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games will be named in his honour.

Over 250 pro mountain bike riders from all over the country will be racing on a course through Edinburgh streets, stairways and alleyways for what the organisers are calling the "World's First Nighttime Urban Downhill Race" on Saturday night, 6th October between 7pm and 9.30pm.
