Edinburgh's main comedy club can be found in a basement bar just off St. Andrew Square.

The long-standing ('scuse the pun) comedy venue in Edinburgh nurtures new talent in its early week slots, and features up-and-coming and bigger comedians on other evenings and weekends. It's a good place to find comedy Scottish style and a compact setting for intimate sets with bigger names.

Cabaret style seating most of the time although late night shows may not be seated. And you thought the name just referred to the fact that it hosts stand-up comedy...?

During the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe, the Stand operates 4 venues. The one at 5 York Place, a "sister" studio comedy club, operational since 1999 at the Fringe, round the corner at 16 North St Andrew Street, and the Stand Comedy Club III and IV at 28 York Place.
